Office Sale Update

Under the leadership of Rick Kopf and a group of volunteers with real estate expertise, the Office Ad Hoc Committee is working to complete the sale of the San Leandro office. The Golden Gate Area Council (GGAC) Executive Board approved exploring the sale of our San Leandro and Pleasant Hill offices to keep local Scouting thriving and ensure that donations we receive will be used in direct program support, with as little overhead as possible. It also allows GGAC to prepare to fund our council’s obligation to properly compensate child abuse claimants under the pending National Council bankruptcy settlement.

The Office Ad Hoc Committee plans to lease a Council Administrative Office in the coming months and will place the Pleasant Hill office on the market in the coming days.

The Alameda Office remains open and now hosts our GGAC Outdoor Programs staff. Starting on July 1, the office can be used for select in-person meetings with up to 20 people – please email [email protected] to request a reservation. We anticipate similar availability after July 1 at Camp Herms to hold hybrid meetings that are currently held on Zoom, with no extra charge for the multi-million dollar views!

In June, the Alameda Office will open our first Council Trading Post. It is now being organized to offer a selection of uniforms, patches, rank badges, and other Scouting materials under the leadership of our own Monica Holland, who previously managed the East Bay Scout Shop. The Office Ad Hoc Committee is also planning for additional Council Trading Posts to be strategically located throughout the council. McCaulou’s also carries a selection of Scout supplies in their Lafayette, Danville, and Walnut Creek locations.

We will update you regularly through our council news sources. You may also check the web pages below for further updates regarding the progress of the Office Ad Hoc Committee’s work and the BSA bankruptcy/restructuring.
