Sea Scout Ship Corsair named inaugural GGAC Flagship

Flagship, “the finest, largest, or most important one of a group” is an honorific sought after by Sea Scout Ships nationwide.

The National Flagship and National Flagship fleet honors are awarded each year by the National Sea Scout Committee. SSS Albatross Ship 72 of Martinez, SSS Viking Ship 100 of San Francisco and SSS Makai of San Leandro have each been awarded National Flagship in recent years while SSS Sea Fox of Alameda was named to the National Flagship Fleet.

You must be running an excellent all-around program to win the National Flagship and the competition is fierce. So with two recent National Flagships in GGAC you can expect the competition locally to be just as fierce. Four of our Ships entered the Council competition and made presentations to the Youth Sea Scouting Committee monthly Zoom meeting.

The decision was very difficult and the Council Sea Scouting Committee applauds SSS Odyssey, El Cerrito, SSS Sea Fox, Alameda and SSS Viking, San Francisco for their outstanding youth presentations. The winning Ship, SSS Corsair has been awarded a certificate to post at their base, a flag and uniform patches.
